There are many different kinds of moving average. The simple arithmetic mean is sufficient for the vast majority of traders' needs. A MA may also use unequal weights for each set of currency prices. You may hear about three most popular types of moving averages indicators:
- Simple moving averages (SMA);
- Weighted moving averages (WMA);
- Exponential moving averages (EMAs).
But there are many other types of MA:
- MA Crossovers,
- Adaptive MA,
- Typical Price MA (Pivot Point),
- Adaptive MA,
- Triangular MA.
