A Bollinger band technical indicator looks similar to the moving average envelope, but differs in how the outer bands are created.

The only difference is that the bands of MA Envelopes are plotted a fixed distance (%) away from the moving average, while the BB‘s are plotted a certain number of standard deviations away from it.
